Cowboy boots
Cowboy boots can be worn anywhere from the ranch to the
city. Regardless of where you wear them, there are certain things that
need to do in order to keep them in good shape.
• Getting rid of dirt – Get a damp cloth and begin wiping.
It is typically best not to use any kind of a harsh chemical when cleaning
the boot. The reason is because harsh chemicals have a tendency to discolor
the boot. Many manufacturers sell an accompanying cleanser.
• Ingrained dirt – If you have not cleaned your cowboy
boots for some time, there is a good chance that damp cloth and water
will not be able to remove the older dirt. Try some Saddle Oil, or look
for a cleanser offered by the manufacturer of your footwear.
• Conditioner – You can help to keep them in good shape
by applying some kind of a leather conditioner. The conditioner helps
prevent the boot from drying out and also helps keep the leather soft.
If it has been some time since you have used conditioner, you very well
might want to apply a couple of coats.
• Water repellent – If you want to keep your cowboy boots
in good shape, using some water repellent might be a very good idea.
Often the boots are already waterproof, but this is not always the case.
Still, from time to time, apply repellent to ensure it stays in good
shape and that the weatherproof ability does not wear out.
