Motorcycle boots
Motorcycle boots help ensure a part of your safety on
the bike. Obviously if you lay down a motor bike, you know your legs
and feet are often the first things to hit pavement. Here are some other
examples of motorcycle safety apparel:
• Helmets – Some states require by law that motorcyclists
wear these helmets. Other states leave the choice up to the motorcyclist.
There are valid arguments made on both sides of the issue. Everything
from personal freedom to escalating insurance costs has been brought
up for discussion. However, the most important part of the whole subject
is simply that those who seriously want to decrease their chance of
a serious head injury need to wear helmets. No helmet completely guarantees
protection, but the likelihood of a serious brain injury or death significantly
decreases with someone wearing a helmet.
• Jacket – All this time you may have thought that motorcyclists
wore leather motorcycle boots and jackets just to look cool, but the
fact is that the jackets serve two functions: warmth and protection
if you happen to get into some kind of wreck or other accident. A person
who is thrown off a motorcycle will skid across the pavement for quite
a distance, especially if he or she is moving fast enough. In order
to be better protected, jacket manufacturers have made jackets thick
and (some) padded and able to withstand some skidding.
For motorcycle riders, motorcycle boots offer a meeting of form and
function.
